2月21日 Don't talk about it, be about itMos Def performed Dollar Day in New Orleans at the Paramount last weekend as part of Dave Chappelle's Block Party tour. It's a song about the effect of Hurricane Katrina and the Bush administration's fumbling response to it. Mos Def expressed his sympathy for the victims of the hurricane and encouraged everyone in the audience to donate even just $1 to the relief effort.
Cool. Where in the theater are they collecting donations? Hmmm, no mention of that.
Well, collecting paper money does present some logistical challenges. At least Mos & Co. donated portions of the ticket sales to a reputable charity, right? Nope, no mention of that either.
Thankfully, at least he didn't promote his upcoming album during the performance at all. Oh wait... Yeah, numerous mentions of that, replete with "I don't promote on TV b/c TV doesn't give you the story straight."
OK, let me make sure I get this straight, Mos. You have no problem invoking Hurricane Katrina to get the audience on your side, but when it comes to donating $1 out of the $66 that each of 1500 people paid to sit in the balcony at your sold-out show, that's where you draw the line?
Got it. 评论 (1)
